A heartbreaking tragedy has shattered a Texas mother’s world after a devastating car crash claimed the lives of her entire immediate family—her husband and two young children.
The fatal accident occurred shortly after noon on May 17 in southern Grayson County, roughly an hour north of Dallas. Forty-one-year-old Tommy Moorehead III was behind the wheel of his Chevrolet Silverado, accompanied by his 6-year-old daughter, Lynnlee, and 4-year-old son, Tommy Jr., when their lives were tragically cut short.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash was triggered by a reckless and illegal maneuver. A Dodge Ram 3500, attempting to pass a large truck in a no-passing zone while going uphill, slammed head-on into Moorehead’s vehicle. The violent impact ignited the Silverado, engulfing it in flames.
All three members of the Moorehead family were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, identified as 63-year-old Rocky Patterson, survived and has been arrested. He now faces serious charges of manslaughter, a second-degree felony. His bond has been set at $3 million.
The 74-year-old driver of the truck being overtaken also sustained injuries but is expected to recover.
