Breanna Nix Rises ‘Higher’ — and This Time, She’s Dancing Through It with Her Son by Her Side.

Breanna Nix Reveals Secret About 'AI' Journey Before Finale

Breanna Nix recently opened up about her brand-new song, “Higher”, and the heartfelt message behind it. To her, this isn’t just another release—it’s a personal anthem, a declaration of resilience in the face of life’s toughest challenges. In a world that can so easily knock people down, “Higher” is her way of reminding listeners that they can always get back up, stronger than before. The song’s soaring melody and powerful lyrics speak directly to the human spirit, offering a message of hope and renewal.

What makes this moment even more special is how Breanna chose to share the song with the world. Rather than a flashy premiere or polished music video, she posted a simple, deeply touching clip of herself lip-syncing “Higher” with her young son. In the video, she mouths the words with emotion while her little boy bounces along, dancing freely in the background. It’s raw, it’s real—and it captures everything the song is about: joy, persistence, and the quiet strength that comes from love and family.

Breanna explained that “Higher” was born during a period of intense self-reflection and growth. She had faced setbacks, doubts, and moments where giving up felt easier than holding on. But through it all, she kept writing, kept singing, and kept believing in the power of music to heal and uplift. The result is a song that doesn’t just tell her story—it speaks to anyone who has ever fallen and found the courage to rise again.

According to an interview with Billboard, back in 2024, Breanna was busy posting music videos on TikTok with her husband Austin. Already leaning into her singing idols (like Carrie) for song inspiration with each video she posted online, Breanna decided she’d do something in secret. She submitted an audition tape to American Idol without her family knowing, and she even forgot about it when she received an email reply with an offer to sing for the judges.

“I submitted a video [to Idol] and didn’t tell anyone,” she told the outlet. “I forgot about it. Didn’t tell my husband. Didn’t tell anybody. I didn’t think anything was going to come out of it. Two months went by, and I checked my email.”

Eventually, Breanna decided to audition for American Idol season 23 with Austin and their son Emerson in tow. She tapped into Carrie’s musical catalog for the big moment, and she stunned the judges with her rendition of “Jesus, Take the Wheel.”

So, where does Breanna get the strength to give everything she’s got into the American Idol competition? As she told the cameras during her audition, her inspiration to do well comes down to one little person in her life.
