SAD NEWS: 30 Minutes Ago – Teddy Misses Everyone So Much
It’s with a heavy heart that I share today’s update… one that arrived less than 30 minutes ago and has left me feeling emotional in a way I can hardly describe. Teddy, our sweet, gentle, loving boy, is missing everyone deeply. Even though he’s receiving the best care, the safest environment, and the attention he needs, there’s something only his people—his family, his friends, his supporters—can give him: connection.
You know how dogs have that incredible ability to sense things? That soft awareness, that emotional intelligence that often feels more natural than our own? Teddy is showing that side of himself so clearly right now. According to the staff, he keeps glancing toward the door whenever footsteps echo down the hallway. His ears perk up at the sound of a familiar tone. His tail gives those soft, hopeful thumps each time someone approaches his room… only to slow again when he realizes it isn’t one of “his” people.
And honestly, that’s what breaks my heart the most.
Because Teddy isn’t just missing home—he’s missing everyone. He’s missing the voices that comfort him, the touch that reassures him, the laughter that fills his world with warmth. He’s missing the energy he’s always been surrounded by, the presence of those who adore him, the feeling of belonging to his little family circle.
The nurses say he’s been extra gentle today, extra quiet. Not sad in a scary way—just longing. That soft, searching kind of longing dogs have when they want to be close to the ones they love. He keeps looking around as if expecting someone to walk in at any moment. It doesn’t matter that he’s being cared for so well; love is the medicine he’s craving most right now.
And while it hurts to hear this, it also reminds me of something deeply beautiful:
Teddy loves so big, so sincerely, that the absence of those he loves is something he feels right down to his golden soul.
So if Teddy could speak right now, I imagine his message would be simple:
“Where is everyone? I miss you. I miss your voices. I miss your hugs. I miss the way you say my name. Please come back soon.”
I think he can feel the distance. And I think he can feel how much we’re thinking about him too. Dogs are remarkable that way—love is their language, and Teddy speaks it fluently.
For now, all we can do is send him our thoughts, our strength, our comfort. Even from a distance, that love reaches him. I know it does. And the moment he comes home—the moment he sees familiar faces walk through that door—that tail of his will explode into the happiest, fiercest wag the world has ever seen.
So if you’re reading this… please send Teddy a little love today.
A prayer.
A warm thought.
A whispered “we miss you too.”
Because he feels it.
And he misses you all more than words could ever say.
