My dogs got way too competitive today, and honestly, it was hilarious. What started as a simple game of fetch quickly turned into an all-out competition for who could prove they were the “top dog.” Teddy darted across the yard like a rocket, determined to grab the ball first, while Archie tried every sneaky trick in the book—blocking, bumping, even pretending to go one way and then sprinting the other.
Instead of just bringing the ball back, they began parading it around like trophies, daring the other to try and take it. Growls turned playful, tails wagged like crazy, and before long it wasn’t even about the ball—it was about bragging rights. You could practically see the glint in their eyes: “I’m faster!” “I’m smarter!” “I’m the real champion!”
By the time they collapsed, tongues hanging out and paws muddy, it was clear neither had really “won.” But watching them compete with so much energy and joy reminded me why I love them so much. They don’t just play—they give their whole hearts, even if it’s just for a silly game. And in the end, I guess they both won… because they had the time of their lives.
