What Happened to Teddy?
If you’ve been following Teddy’s journey, you probably noticed that things have been unusually quiet lately—and so many of you have been asking, “What happened? Is Teddy okay?” Today, I finally want to share what’s been going on, because he means the world to us, and you all deserve to know the truth.
Over the past few days, Teddy just wasn’t himself. Normally he wakes up full of excitement, tail wagging so hard it shakes his whole body, charging around the house like a golden tornado of joy. But this time, it was different. He woke up slowly. He didn’t rush to the door, he didn’t bring us his favorite toy, and he didn’t do his usual “happy morning dance.” Instead, he walked over quietly and gently pressed his head against our leg—something he only does when he wants comfort.
At first, we thought maybe it was just an off day. Dogs have those too. But as hours passed, we noticed more signs. Teddy wasn’t eating with his usual enthusiasm. He moved slower. He tried to lay down next to us every few minutes, looking for reassurance. And then… we noticed him trembling lightly—barely noticeable unless you were watching closely. That’s when worry began to grow in our hearts.
We called the vet immediately.
They told us to bring him in just to be safe, and that’s where things became even more emotional. The moment we got to the vet’s office, Teddy did what Teddy always does—he put on a brave face. He wagged his tail, sniffed the room, and tried to charm the staff with his gentle smile. But even then, we could see the tiredness behind his eyes.
The vet ran several tests. Bloodwork. Temperature checks. A physical exam. They kept him longer than expected for observation. And waiting for answers… that was the hardest part. Every minute felt like an hour. When you love a dog as deeply as we love Teddy, even the smallest sign of discomfort feels overwhelming.
Finally, the vet came back with results.
The good news: it’s nothing life-threatening.
No cancer.
No organ failure.
No terrifying diagnosis.
But the not-so-good news: Teddy has a viral infection, likely something he picked up at the dog park or during one of his playdates. It’s the kind of illness that can make dogs extremely tired, sore, and uncomfortable—especially gentle souls like him who don’t know how to express when they’re hurting.
The vet told us the infection caused fever, fatigue, mild dehydration, and body aches. It also explains why Teddy kept seeking closeness. Dogs often lean on their humans when they don’t feel well, and Teddy’s soft eyes were saying exactly that: “Please stay with me.”
So what’s happening now?
Teddy is home, resting.
He’s on medication.
He’s drinking plenty of water, even though eating is still a bit slow.
And we’re doing everything possible to keep him comfortable.
Blankets.
Soft pillows.
Quiet time.
Endless cuddles.
And yes—constant supervision.
Every few hours he lifts his head to check if we’re still there. We always are.
What makes all of this even more emotional is how deeply Teddy loves everyone. Even sick, he tries to nuzzle our hands. Even tired, he gives the softest tail wag when he hears our voices. Even hurting, he still wants to be near us. That’s the thing about dogs—their loyalty never wavers, even when they’re at their weakest.
Many of you have become part of Teddy’s extended family. You celebrate his goofy moments, his victories, his happy days—and now, you’re here with him through the tough ones. And that means more than you know.
So what happened to Teddy?
He got sick.
He got scared.
He needed help.
And he needed love.
But here’s the most important part:
Teddy is fighting. Teddy is healing. Teddy is going to be okay.
It will take a few days of rest and medication, but he’s already showing small signs of recovery—longer stretches of sleep, softer breathing, a tiny wag whenever he sees us walk into the room.
Thank you for caring about him.
Thank you for praying for him.
Thank you for keeping him in your hearts.
He’ll be back to his happy, fluffy, silly self soon.
We promise. ❤️
