Does Teddy Have Cancer Now?
The past few weeks have been some of the most emotionally exhausting days of our lives. It started with something so small — a tiny lump under Teddy’s front leg. At first, it seemed like nothing serious. He wasn’t in pain, and he was still the same sweet, gentle soul who greeted us every morning with a wagging tail and a soft nuzzle. But deep down, we knew we couldn’t ignore it.
Teddy isn’t just our dog — he’s our heart, our comfort, our family. He’s been with us through breakups, moves, illnesses, and celebrations. His quiet presence fills every room with peace, and the idea that something could be wrong with him was almost too much to bear.
The vet appointment came fast, but the answers didn’t. The initial examination raised red flags — the lump wasn’t just a benign fatty deposit. It was firm, oddly placed, and needed further testing. Bloodwork, x-rays, and finally, a biopsy. Each step came with more fear, more waiting, and more tears.
We tried to stay strong around him, offering extra treats, longer walks, and all the cuddles we could give. But Teddy could sense the tension. He stayed closer, laid his head in our laps more often, and looked into our eyes with what felt like understanding. It was as if he knew we were scared, and in true Teddy fashion, he tried to comfort us.
Today, we got the call — the one that makes your heart skip a beat. The results are still inconclusive, but the biopsy did reveal abnormal cells. The vet explained that they couldn’t confirm cancer yet, but it’s not off the table. More tests are scheduled. More waiting. More praying.
This photo was taken in the vet’s office, where we held Teddy tight and tried to hold ourselves together. He leaned into us, calm and brave — like he always is.
We’re not giving up hope. We’re not going to let fear steal the moments we still have. No matter what the future holds, Teddy will be loved beyond measure, every single day.
Please keep him in your thoughts. He means the world to us.
